Автомобиль британской фирмы Keating разогнался до 416 км/ч, установив новый мировой рекорд скорости для легкового автомобиля.Заезды проходили по поверхности высохшего соляного озера в Калифорнии, где регулярно проходят подобные старты.Компания Keating специализируется на производстве суперкаров. Машины производятся в пригороде английского Манчестера. Фирма предлагает две модели: дорожный SKR и суперкар TKR, предназначенный для соревнований и гоночных трасс. Обе машины персонализируют под вкус и желания заказчика.TKR оснащен гигантским двигателем, чей рабочий объем составляет 7 литров. Столь же поражает и мощность в 1800 лошадиных сил.Предполагается, что за основу был взят мотор LS7 от Chevrolet Corvette.Других технических подробностей об автомобиле-рекордсмене не сообщается, передают Дни.Ру.Основатель фирмы Тони Китинг очень горд достижением: "Keating TKR стал реализацией наших амбиций сделать лучший суперкар в мире и победить. Наша машина превосходит все остальные своим дизайном, управлемостью, мощью и эксклюзивностью. И самое главное - она британская!"Однако компания не сможет долго удерживать установленный рекорд.Среди наиболее вероятных конкурентов - прежние лидеры в этом состязании: Koenigsegg CCX, Porsche 9ff GT9, Bugatti Veyron и SSC Aero Twin-Turbo.Последнему уже удалось разогнаться до 411 км/ч.
